Miles College (HBCU) Fellows Named as Inaugural Cohort of Cultural IP Research Hub with AXM
Birmingham, AL — September 4th, 2025 — Three Miles College students — Jasmine Moore (Senior,
Communications), Niya Austin (Junior, Music Education), and Antonio Smith (Junior, Music Education)
— have been selected as the inaugural Fellows for Miles College’s Inaugural Research Hub for Cultural
Intellectual Property (IP), in partnership with AXM.
Collectively, the Fellows carry a combined GPA of 3.2 and will spend the semester immersed in
mentorship, research, and real-world projects that explore how culture, technology, and authorship
intersect in today’s rapidly changing creative economy.
The partnership, housed in the Department of Music, was co-architected by Provost Dr. Tonya Perry and
Dr. Megan Rudolph-Wicks, the Coordinator of Music & Co-Director of the Hub. Their vision established
the program as a student-first, industry-connected initiative that places HBCU students at the center of
cultural innovation.
AXM Technologies Corp. (AXM), which has indexed more than $50 million in cultural assets on its beta
platform and is running pilots with iconic estates and creators, brings its industry expertise directly into
the classroom. As part of the research hub, Miles College and AXM will also preview a forthcoming
whitepaper on Cultural IP, offering one of the first looks at how new frameworks can protect, govern, and
finance creativity on a global scale.
“This partnership is about students leading the future of cultural IP,” said Archie Davis, Co-Founder and
CEO of AXM. “By starting here at Miles College, we’re ensuring that the next generation is not only
part of the conversation, but shaping the rules.”
The Cultural IP Research Hub will connect Fellows with a prestigious network of guest mentors
and lecturers from across entertainment, publishing, and technology, including:
● Cristina Chavez, SVP of A&R at Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG)
● Phil Lawrence, SVP and Head of Music at Eventim USA
● Archie Davis, Co-Founder & CEO of AXM
● Jameson Parker, Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer of AXM and former senior engineer at
Google and Adobe
● Jon Colclough, VP of Creative Strategy at Mass Appeal
Andrew Farrior, Co-Founder and COO of AXM, will serve as the Incubator’s Director of Practice,
mentoring the Fellows throughout the semester and guiding their applied projects in partnership with Dr.
Perry and Dr. Rudolph-Wicks. Jameson Parker, AXM’s Technical Co-Founder and CTO, will lead
dedicated sessions on the role of technology in cultural IP, helping students understand how innovations
in AI, data, and digital infrastructure are reshaping the music and creative industries.
“Our partnership with AXM has provided the very resource we needed to propel our
students into the industry and distinguish them from their peers. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and we
are thrilled for our students to be immersed in—and learning directly from—the iconic leaders of the
industry, while also gaining invaluable hands-on, real-world experience.” - Dr. Megan Wicks-Rudolph,
Miles College Coordinator of Music, Co-Director of Research Hub for Cultural IP.
The program culminates in a portfolio of published briefs, project work, and live pilots that position
students not just as participants in the music industry but as early leaders in the cultural economy.
Together, Miles College and AXM are proving that HBCUs can help define the rules of the creative
economy — not just play by them.
